To Each Their Own

Just before the new year my family and I went to New York City.

We took in a great show, ate some delicious pizza and did plenty of shopping, including at the iconic Puma flagship store on Fifth Avenue.

It’s one of my favorite stores in the world – it sells stuff you can only buy in that store.

Like my new trainers. Sneakers or “kicks” as you call them in the U.S.

Check out these bad boys…

Love at first sight!

I fell in love with them. The style, the color. And most importantly they are embossed with the five boroughs of New York: Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Super cool, right?

I think so. My wife, however, hates them.

In fact, when I was dancing around the store testing them, my wife told me I looked like a wackadoodle.

Not for my actions, but for the style and color of the shoe.

Now, I normally consider my wife’s opinion… but not this time. I bought them and have worn them almost every day since.

Because I love them. My business partner Adam loves them. My buddy Andy loves them too. As does my son Josh.

The ones who don’t like them? Tough s**t!

We are all different. With the cars we drive, the food we eat, the clothes we wear, the people we love and… the types of businesses we want to buy and own.

A business is a tool for life – it is there to provide for what you need and want…

Cash flow, freedom, pride, work-life balance, accomplishment, fulfilment, status, legacy… and sometimes ego.

The types of businesses that rock my world may be completely different from the types that will do the same for you.

I love professional services, engineering and technology businesses.

But I don’t love retail, Amazon businesses and franchises.

You may love them and that’s your right. Your choice. Your destiny.

Don’t let anyone talk you out of achieving your dreams. You want to own a retail store? Go for it! I will help you close the deal.

Deciding what type of business to acquire is unique to you based on several factors we’ve talked about before…

Each to their own. There is no right or wrong answer. It’s what you want to do.

So stay true to yourself and buy a business that speaks to you.

What sector(s) are you interested in? Reply to this email and let me know. I’ll address the nuances of some of the most talked about sectors in future articles.

And if you have any awesome trainer/kick photos, send them to me.

It’s one of my passions. I own at least 50 pairs! ‚ò∫

Speak soon. Until then, bye for now.
