Week in the Life: Quarantine Edition

For the past several weeks, I have been in quarantine in my country home in Lancashire, U.K.

To be honest with you… I LOVE it.

It’s been a blast – time with my family… playing with my dogs in the garden… and tons of walking, cycling and enjoying the beautiful Lancashire countryside. I often don’t get to appreciate it due to my typically crazy travel schedule.

Yes, I miss traveling to Baltimore, drinking beer in my local pub with friends and being able to go grocery shopping without standing in line… but hey, my life could be a whole lot worse.

I have used this time to learn new skills – like playing the guitar.

I’m so passionate about music, but never once during my 49 years on this Earth have I ever picked up a guitar and started to play.

My son Josh inspired me. He’s been strumming away for weeks now and he’s really starting to show promise.

I have also been reading LOADS, including some amazing new books on practical psychology and – my personal favorites – business biographies.

I love learning how successful entrepreneurs created vast fortunes and served millions of people by following their passions.

Finally, I have been combining my two passions: serving people and making money.

And that’s what I want to talk about today.

We are closing in on our next TWO amazing deals in my private equity company PROX. One is a business I’m truly passionate and excited about…

For my money, it’s the best deal we have seen inside of PROX this year. It’s a very large training company for dyslexic children.

It’s a fantastic business that’s producing a torrent of cash flow. Adam pitched me the final offer and structure this morning and I have been thinking about it all day.

This business will make so much money over the next 10 years, Adam and I could retire just off this one deal…

But that’s not the only reason we’re buying it.

The other reason is that this business helps children learn to read, children who face MASSIVE challenges in mainstream education.

The business already serves thousands of children (it’s a large, almost eight-figure revenue business) and we plan to 10X this business at a minimum.

There are new market channels we can exploit… blow up the sales funnel via social media… add new content streams in sciences, languages and lots of other topics.

Our goal is to serve millions of children in the U.S. and Canada, even Europe and Australia.

This got me to thinking about the ripple effect.

Helping a child (who might otherwise have struggled massively) learn to read will help them become competent in other subjects and move the needle forward in their lives.

Think of ALL those lives we can have a profound effect on… the inventions those people could come up with… and the businesses they might start that change the way we live our lives in the future.

Some will probably enter the medical profession and save lives…

Some will serve in the armed forces and fight for us at home and overseas…

Some will enter local law enforcement to protect and serve their communities…

It’s mind-blowing – how many lives will be changed by this deal.

So for me, this isn’t just about making money or retiring early. It’s also about improving our world as we know it.

This deal does BOTH.

I’m so excited about it. I can’t wait for it to close so we can set about our plan of scaling it, improving more lives and changing the world for the better.

Let me ask you a question.

What are you TRULY passionate about? What would you do if money weren’t a factor? How would YOU change the world?

Once you’ve got your answer – once you’ve identified what it is that really gets your juices flowing – go find a business that does THAT.

Because let me tell you – when you get into a deal that really fuels you and gives you the juice of life, like this learning company has done for me, absolutely nothing can stop you.

You will smash through every roadblock…

Leap effortlessly over any hurdle in your path…

And do it all with a massive smile on your face.

Go do it – I know you can.

Until next time, bye for now.
