The week of Feb. 16 was totally crazy for me. An absolute whirlwind.
And it involved some pretty big sacrifices… but in the end, it was 100% worth it.
Let me explain…
First, my eldest son, Ryan, was visiting the U.K. from Australia with his girlfriend Ashleigh. We had a ton of amazing family stuff planned, including a trip to see our beloved Burnley FC!
Burnley didn’t come out on top… It was a 0-0 draw against Arsenal. But it was a really good match.
But then something truly unexpected happened.
I was asked if I could fit in a crazy 48-hour trip to the U.S. – starting in New York, ending in Miami – for the opportunity to meet with one of my personal heroes and mentors, Grant Cardone.
I’ve been a big fan of his for a long time. I love Cardone for his devotion to his family, the simplicity of his teaching and his resilience – how he dug himself out of a total crash in 2008 to build a $1 billion-plus business empire.
What a decision!
Hang with my Australian family, who I only see once every six months…
Or go and spend time with one of my biggest heroes?
And I had to choose – there wasn’t an opportunity to reschedule. Cardone’s about to go on tour and this was my only shot.
It was a massive dilemma… so I asked my son Ryan to make the decision for me.
He told me, “Dad, you HAVE to do this. Cardone is one of your biggest heroes. Go over there, smash it [I think this is an Australian term he’s picked up – LOL] and then get back here and we can all celebrate.”
He was right. So I did. I flew across the pond and back inside of 48 hours.
And to sweeten the deal (not like it needed sweetening), I was driven ’round in a Rolls-Royce.
A bit too flashy for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless.
The perfect vehicle in which to be chauffeured around Miami…
When I was flying home after this unbelievable trip, I got to thinking about other sacrifices I have made over the years to build the success I now have.
The world doesn’t meet you halfway…
You have to get out there and put in the work, seize the opportunities presented to you and reap the rewards.
Sometimes that involves making tough choices, especially when it comes to how you spend your time.
You can’t be in two places at once.
Now, I’m extremely lucky. My family loves me, supports me and has totally bought into my mission.
To be sure, the lifestyle it affords us is a massive benefit. But that’s not why they approve…
Nothing is free in this world. There are no true get-rich-quick schemes.
Luckily, I’m a “get rich slowly” kind of guy. I am constantly putting in the work… taking massive action… making the occasional sacrifice…
And meeting my heroes.
This was easily one of the best days of my life…
If you want to shake up your life, you’ve got to learn to grab hold of massive opportunities when they present themselves. Take some chances… go out on a few limbs where the juicy fruit is…
Think of it as a three-part process:
After my whirlwind weekend in the U.S., I was only home for FOUR days before flying to Dubai on holiday.
Post-vacation, I was only in Manchester for TWO days before flying back to the Dealmaker Wealth Society headquarters in Baltimore.
Just another week in the life…
Until next time, bye for now.
